Valentine's Day Flowers |
 |
Valentine's Day, celebrated on 14th of February, is a day that many people in love await. This day is connected to many traditional flowers, and there are different species that help lovers express their sentiments and love for their beloved. It is a tradition to flatter a potential or existing lover with a Valentine gift and card. The most common and popular gift is a Valentine's Day flower, especially the red rose, which is a symbol of love and passion. Nowadays, lovers have become very exploratory and the choices for a Valentine's Day flower can include glamorous flowers like the scented lily or exotic orchid.
The Most Common Valentine Flower: The Rose
The rose, a flower used by many ancient Egyptians, Romans, and Greeks is also known as a flower that signifies love (red rose), peace (white rose), and friendship (yellow and pink). In fact, according to ancient history, Cleopatra showered rose petals on Mark Antony as an expression of love. In addition the rose was the favorite flower of France's Empress Josephine, who possessed the finest roses in her Paris estate gardens in Europe.
However, the Victorians began the tradition of using many flowers in an effort to communicate the language of love. Victorian flowers had complex meaning attached, and the size, scent, and position of any bouquet of flowers would express several different messages; for instance, a single red rose had a different meaning attached to it compared to a combination with white rose buds.
Nowadays, there are many varieties of cultivated roses including wild roses, old garden roses (non-climbing and climbing), and modern garden roses (miniature, climbing, shrub, and bush roses). Roses come in many scents and colors; some well-liked colors of roses for Valentine's Day are pink, red, white, and yellow. Roses come in various scents, and the fragrance of a rose is acknowledged to be an aphrodisiac, warming and sensual.
Glamorous Valentine Flower: The Orchid
Orchids habitually have a glamorous relationship. They are found in many habitats of the world as well as the mountains and the seashore, and there are around 25,000 to 30,000 varieties of orchids. Orchids have powerful and exotic fragrances that are fruity and spicy depending on the type of orchid. Orchids grow well in a greenhouse, as they require constant moisture and warmth; they have a wide range of colors that include many shades of red, pink, purple, and yellow. Orchids are enormously beautiful and, even though they are not traditional flowers, they are a perfect gift for any amorous occasion such as Valentine's Day.
Scented Valentine's Day Flower: The Lily
Many exotic species of lily exist including Madonna lilies (Lilium candidum), tiger lilies, and oriental lilies. The Madonna lily is the oldest cultivated lily. It is a native of ancient Greece and Egypt. Even though it is not traditionally connected with Valentine's Day, the aroma of the Madonna lily is rich, exotic, and an aphrodisiac.
Be it any flower, Valentine's Day is special for any lover as is the bouquet he presents to his loved one. There are three that I highly recommend, but it is you who finally needs to choose the one that will please your lover the most. |
